I'm waist deep in my old journals now, and three things are clear:
1. I was a little dark. (Maybe more than a little.)
2. I spent way too much time in my head.
3. I should've learned to play the guitar, or dated a guy who played the guitar, so I could write incredibly depressing songs for his (or my) band.
See for yourself.
Soon I will be standing before you
As I was only days ago
Will you sense that everything has changed?
That my hands are already packing
And my heart finally beginning to let you go?
Soon I will be standing alone
Before myself
On the ground of a dream
We had not too long ago

If you're having a tough time imagining what the former, younger, darker, totally unmusical version of me looked like…brace yourself.
