I’ve been getting lots of Facebook messages and questions on my Tumblr about UNBREAKABLE, the first book in my solo series, The Legion, so I thought I would answer a few that keep showing up.

Q: When does UNBREAKABLE come out?

A: Fall 2013

Q: I read the description on your website. Can you tell us anything else about it?

A: Not yet…

Q: Who are the main characters? What are they like?

A: There are five main characters, but the only ones that have been mentioned online so far are Kennedy, Lukas, and Jared. I can’t tell you anything about them yet, except that Lukas and Jared are not your typical high school guys…

Q: Did you have lots of readers while you were writing UNBREAKABLE (like during BEAUTIFUL CREATURES)?

A: Not this time. The only people who read more than the first 50 pages of UNBREAKABLE while I was actually writing were my husband, my assistant, Holly Black, and Carrie Ryan. After I finished, I also shared it with my lit agent, Jodi Reamer; my editor, Julie Scheina; my film agent, my Mark Morgan, the producer who optioned the film rights; and Holly and Carrie (so they could make sure I killed any darlings I had left). It’s also about to have some other eyes on it, which makes me want to break out in hives.

Q: Are you writing the screenplay?

A. No. There are lots of YA authors with screenwriting backgrounds, but I’m not one of them. But as a producer on the film, I will be working with the screenwriter.

Q: Are you excited for people to read it??!! (This question always has lots of question marks or exclamation points after it.)

A: I’m excited in a totally terrified kind of way. Even if it’s only a short story, it’s always daunting to share my work with readers because I don’t want to disappoint them.
