On My Desk #1

on my desk

Every Monday, I’m going to post about what’s on my desk. I hope it’s helpful or, at least, amusing.

Today, my desk is my comfy chair. Like most writers, I don’t have an office right now, so my writing space is a corner of my bedroom.

Not my dream scenario, but I’ve written four out of five books from here, and I’m working on my sixth — the sequel to Unbreakable (the first book in my solo series, The Legion).

Unbreakable doesn’t come out until October 1st, but I’m already writing the sequel. And it’s kicking my butt.

Sequels come in two varieties:

1) The second book in a larger story arc, with a unique story arc of its own.

2) The Sausage Link – a book that functions as a bridge between two books, with no arc of its own.

I’m shooting for variety #1.

So what’s on my desk?

– MacBook Air
– Sony Headphones
– Diet Coke
– Spiral Notebook with a Short Outline of the Scene I’m Writing
– My Kindle (for breaks)
– Leftover Chocolate Easter Eggs
– Notecards with My Story Beats & Misc. Scenes
– The Art of War for Writers by Writing Guru, James Scott Bell
– Dark Places by Gillian Flynn (because I want to read it again)

What’s on your desk today?
