Tons of Pics from San Diego Comic-Con 2011 & Beautiful Creatures Stuff

Here are some of my Comic-Con 2011 highlights, or “Comic-Con in Pictures.” I know this is cheating, but I have a lot going on with UNBREAKABLE, including outlining the sequel, so this is as good as it gets.

Comic-Con always begins with packing, or in my case packing at the last minute and bringing five pairs of shoes.

DAY 1 – FRIDAY

I dropped by the Hachette Booth & what did I find? A chapter sampler with bonus chapter from the BEAUTIFUL CREATURES graphic novel, adapted and illustrated by Cassandra Jean. Lena looks EXACTLY the way I imagined. You can read the chapter as they are released on the Yen Plus website.

Aand . . . Hachette was giving away BEAUTIFUL CREATURES bags with a movie mention.

Friday Night Dinner with Awesome YA Authors & the beautiful and talented actress, Molly Quinn from “Castle.”

From the Left: Ransom Riggs (MISS PEREGRINE’S SCHOOL FOR PECULIAR CHILDREN), Molly Quinn (“Castle”), Me, Andrea Cremer (The Nightshade Series), Kiersten White (The Paranormalcy Series) & Victoria Schwab (THE NEAR WITCH & THE ARCHIVED)

Me & Molly – She even looks gorgeous in iPhone pics!

YA Author & Actress Amber Benson from “Buffy the Vampire Series” & Me- If you know what a HUGE Buffy fan I am (my dogs are named Spike and Oz), you can imagine the obscene amount of fangirling involved here.

I got to see Rachel Caine (The Morganville Vampires & since I am obsessed – The Weather Warden Series) and her husband, illustrator Cat Conrad. They are seriously two of the nicest people in the world.

DAY 2: Saturday

Finally met Paolo Baciagalupi (The Ship Breaker Series & for all the Sci-Fi nerds like me, winner of the Hugo & Nebula for THE WINDUP GIRL)

Tony DiTerlizzi a few years ago when he and Holly Black were on their last tour for the Spiderwick Chronicles. His new series Search for Wondla is fantastic.

Richard Kadrey is the author of one of my favorite series, Sandman Slim. Here he is signing ARCs of THE DEVIL SAID BANG (Book 4 in the series).

Hanging out w/ Richard Kadrey at a Comic-Con party.

It wouldn’t be Comic-Con without Darth Vader and a little steampunk.

The image of R2-D2 is actually a painting & what can beat Lego Hulk?

Day 3 – Sunday

Warner Brothers wanted me to do a video interview on Sunday before my panel. This expression = deer in headlights.

Trying to pretend Mauricio will not be videotaping.

The moment of truth.

The “What’s Hot in YA” Panel – from the left: Moderated by Nathan Bransford (The Jacob Wonderbar Series), Leigh Bardugo (SHADOW & BONE), Myra McEntire (The Hourglass Novels), Scott Westerfeld (The Leviathan Series), Melina Marchetta (Finnick of the Rock), Lish McBride (HOLD ME CLOSER NECROMANCER), Tahereh Mafi (SHATTER ME), me & James Dashner (The Maze Runner Trilogy)

With Tahereh – buttering her up so I can get an ARC of UNRAVEL ME

Flashback of Tahereh & I at Comic-Con Last Year

With Scott Westerfeld after the Panel

Scott, Leigh, Nathan & James Signing After the Panel

A Reader Showing Off the Warner Brothers “Beautiful Creatures” Movie Tees I Gave Away After the Panel

Signing

More Signing . . .

Sarah J. Maas (THRONE OF GLASS) stopped by to say hi.

With the talented Melina Marchetta

And the awesome Lish McBride

With Veronica Rossi, author of the book I cannot recommend highly enough, UNDER THE NEVER SKY
